Aircraft from the ALS fleet departed Cannon Field around 9 AM on the morning of Thursday, July 4th, for Startzville (Canyon Lake), Texas, en route to perform a parade flyover. In sequence (video below) are: 1) Piper L-4 flown by Gene Jensen, 2) Taylorcraft L-2 flown by Clayton McCorkle, 3) Interstate L-8 flown by Jesse Bonilla, 4) Taylorcraft L-2 flown by Steve Butler, and 5) Aeronca flown by Jake Ross.
The annual 4th of July Parade is sponsored by Startz Memorial VFW Post 8800. It is a celebratory tradition held by local marching groups, auto aficionados, horsemen/women, businesses, and individuals throughout the community. As planned in 2024, a flyover preceded the parade that regularly takes place along FM 2673 near the VFW Post. (VFW Post 8800 on facebook)
